Sept 24: Pasture Walk with Dana Penrice – Thunder Bay , ON

Join the Beef Farmers of Thunder Bay on Saturday, September 24 for a fall pasture walk! Dana Penrice will be joining us from Manitoba to share how you can observe the impacts of different grazing management practices on your farm. Participants will learn about signs of degradation and regeneration. We’ll discuss the potential outcomes of different grazing techniques and what producers might consider when making management decisions.

When: Sunday Sept. 24, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Where: The event will start at 1:00pm at the Thunder Bay Community Pasture and will end at Corbett Creek Farm with a tour of their pasture and a BBQ.
The main entrance to the Community Pasture is on Hwy. #595. To get there, go through the village of Kakabeka Falls, turn left onto Hwy. #590, go about 5 km and turn left onto Hwy. #595, travel 1 km and it is on the left hand side.
Corbett Creek Farm is located at 48 McNally Drive, Murillo.
Cost: The cost for this course is $10
Dana Penrice farms with her partner Ted Chastko at Shoal Lake, Manitoba on a grain and cattle operation. She began her farming career in Alberta raising grass fed beef, lamb and pastured chicken for customers in Calgary and Edmonton. Her love of the land and farming community led her to study Holistic Management and regenerative agriculture. Dana is an Accredited Professional with the Savory Institute and runs the Ecological Outcome Verification program in Manitoba that assesses ecosystem health on farms. This works take her to see a wide variety of farm contexts and the amazing work that farmers are doing to steward the land for our future.
